Based on a 1300 year old legend, Konoha Zaru 木の葉猿 was said to be trasformed from the earth of Mountain Konoha in Kumamoto熊本県, which remained after the production of ritual equipment. These dolls have been loved for centuries as charms to ward off evil spirits and disasters. They are believed to bring fertility, easy labour, and prosperity for one’s descendants. These brown dolls are sculpted by hand without moulds and heated without glaze.
