L‘origine di questo indumento deriva dal trench coat, ossia il cappotto militare d’ordinanza dei soldati che combattevano in trincea, la parola inglese “trench coat” infatti significa “cappotto da trincea”. Il più antico di questi è senza dubbio il Mackintosh, che adesso è di proprietà giapponese, ha origine dalla ditta Charles Macintosh & Co. fondata a Manchester nel 1824, dopo che uno dei suoi fondatori Charles Macintosh inventò, nel 1823, un modo per impermeabilizzare i tessuti spalmandoli di un sottile strato di gomma; è un dato di fatto che la Macintosh fu tra le prime aziende di impermeabili, proprio per questo nei paesi anglofoni, l’impermeabile è chiamato anche “Mac”. Gli altri due marchi che si contendono il podio del trench sono Acquascutum e Burberry.

Nel 1895, la popolarità sarà tale da portare la società a cambiare il nome del marchio in Aquascutum.
From his London tailoring John Emary created a water-impermeable fabric, called and patented Aquascutum, from the Latin aqua and shield, which made it possible for him to make raincoats that will have enormous success, so much so that he obtained the production for the supply of garments data to soldiers employed in the Crimean war and in the Boer wars. In 1895, popularity will be such that the company will change the brand name to Aquascutum.
Contemporaneamente nello stesso periodo, stava lavorando a questo capo di abbigliamento anche la ditta Burberrys. Il suo fondatore Thomas Burberry, nel 1879, aveva brevettato il gabardine, un tessuto in cotone pesante che non permetteva all’acqua di entrare tra le fibre stesse. Perciò, da circa quell’anno, con la sua ditta, aveva avviato la produzione dei suoi impermeabili su larga scala; anche questi furono usati nelle guerre boere e poi grazie al negozio aperto a Londra furono disponibili al pubblico.
Oggi il trench è diventato un capo insostituibile che è e resterà un capo saldo intramontabile della moda. Indossato nella sua linea super classica o con variazioni di stile moderne e di tendenza il trench rimarrà l’ever green preferito da tutti!

This creation of mine brings the trench coat from rainy and cold London to African atmospheres, thanks also to the inner lining which instead of the very classic tartan is animalier. Sleeveless, strictly double-breasted, falls straight to the waist and is embellished with a triple jewel belt.
Questo trench invece ha una linea ad anfora, molto moderna e confortevole. Doppio petto, senza cintura in vita ma con una coulisse interna per regolarne la sciancratura, tasche applicate a toppa leggermente inclinate e maniche svasate sul fondo. Il dietro risulta stondato e più lungo del davanti, fodera tartan tono su tono.
This trench coat instead has an amphora line, very modern and comfortable.
