Uno, due ….trench!!!

Un buffo gioco di parole per parlarvi del trench, un capo sia maschile che femminile che ormai vanta un secolo di vita!

L‘origine di questo indumento  deriva dal trench coat, ossia il cappotto militare d’ordinanza dei soldati che combattevano in trincea, la parola inglese “trench coat” infatti significa “cappotto da trincea”. Il più antico di questi è senza dubbio il Mackintosh, che adesso è di proprietà giapponese, ha origine dalla ditta Charles Macintosh & Co. fondata a Manchester nel 1824, dopo che uno dei suoi fondatori Charles Macintosh inventò, nel 1823, un modo per impermeabilizzare i tessuti spalmandoli di un sottile strato di gomma; è un dato di fatto che la Macintosh fu tra le prime aziende di impermeabili, proprio per questo nei paesi anglofoni, l’impermeabile è chiamato anche “Mac”. Gli altri due marchi che si contendono il podio del trench sono Acquascutum e Burberry.

A funny word game to tell you about the trench coat, a garment for both men and women that now boasts a century of life!

The origin of this garment derives from the trench coat, that is the military coat of order of the soldiers who fought in the trenches, the English word “trench coat” in fact means “trench coat”. Dalla sua sartoria londinese John Emary creò un tessuto impermeabile all’acqua, chiamato e brevettato Aquascutum, dal latino acqua e scudo, che gli rese possibile la realizzazione di impermeabili che avranno un enorme successo, tanto da fargli ottenere la produzione per la fornitura dei capi dati ai soldati impiegati nella guerra di Crimea e nelle guerre Boere. Nel 1895, la popolarità sarà tale da portare la società a cambiare il nome del marchio in Aquascutum.

From his London tailoring John Emary created a water-impermeable fabric, called and patented Aquascutum, from the Latin aqua and shield, which made it possible for him to make raincoats that will have enormous success, so much so that he obtained the production for the supply of garments data to soldiers employed in the Crimean war and in the Boer wars. In 1895, popularity will be such that the company will change the brand name to Aquascutum.

Contemporaneamente nello stesso  periodo, stava lavorando a questo capo di abbigliamento anche la ditta Burberrys. Il suo fondatore Thomas Burberry, nel 1879, aveva brevettato il gabardine, un tessuto in cotone pesante che non permetteva all’acqua di entrare tra le fibre stesse. Perciò, da circa quell’anno, con la sua ditta, aveva avviato la produzione dei suoi impermeabili su larga scala; anche questi furono usati nelle guerre boere e poi grazie al negozio aperto a Londra furono disponibili al pubblico.

Oggi il trench è diventato un capo insostituibile che è e resterà un capo saldo intramontabile della moda. Indossato nella sua linea super classica o con variazioni di stile moderne e di tendenza il trench rimarrà l’ever green preferito da tutti!

At the same time, the Burberrys company was also working on this piece of clothing. Its founder Thomas Burberry, in 1879, had patented gabardine, a heavy cotton fabric that did not allow water to enter between the fibers themselves. Therefore, from about that year, with his company, he had started the production of his large-scale raincoats; these were also used in the Boer wars and then thanks to the shop opened in London they were available to the public.

Today the trench coat has become an irreplaceable garment that is and will remain a timeless balance of fashion. Worn in its super classic line or with modern and trendy style variations, the trench coat will remain everyone’s favorite green!

Questa mia creazione porta il trench dalla piovosa e fredda Londra alle atmosfere africane, grazie anche alla fodera interna che invece del classicissimo tartan è animalier. Senza maniche, rigorosamente doppio petto, scende dritto in vita ed è arricchito da una cintura tripla gioiello.

This creation of mine brings the trench coat from rainy and cold London to African atmospheres, thanks also to the inner lining which instead of the very classic tartan is animalier. Sleeveless, strictly double-breasted, falls straight to the waist and is embellished with a triple jewel belt.

Questo trench invece ha una linea ad anfora, molto moderna e confortevole. Doppio petto, senza cintura in vita ma con una coulisse interna per regolarne la sciancratura, tasche applicate a toppa leggermente inclinate e maniche svasate sul fondo. Il dietro risulta stondato e più lungo del davanti, fodera tartan tono su tono.

This trench coat instead has an amphora line, very modern and comfortable. Double-breasted, without belt at the waist but with an internal drawstring to adjust the sidecut, slightly tilted patch patch pockets and flared sleeves on the bottom. The back is rounded and longer than the front, tone-on-tone tartan lining.

L‘ultimo modello è un trench rivisitato in chiave più romantica, con rouge sull’abbottonatura davanti, maniche a sbuffo e cintura stretta in vita che ne delinenano la silouette sottile e sciancrata.

The last model is a trench coat revisited in a more romantic key, with a rouge on the front placket, puff sleeves and a narrow belt at the waist that delineate the slim and waisted silhouette.
